Starbucks Sustainability Profile

As a company, we’ve made sustainability a priority since our very beginning

When we lead with our values, we find ourselves doing right by our partners (employees), our customers and our business. Our comprehensive approach to reducing our environmental impact means looking at all aspects of our business, how they intersect and how we can integrate new solutions to create meaningful and sustained change. Together, we can make a difference. Achieving our environmental goals means collaborating and engaging with our partners (employees) and customers. Sustainability is about choices. We encourage you to join us in envisioning a sustainable future and choose reusability whenever possible. For several years we've rewarded customers who bring in their own reusable cup. It's a great way to conserve resources, reduce waste and now it's a sweet saving for your own pocket too! Our customers can also help us reduce the number of single-use paper and plastic cups by simply ordering "for here" when they plan to stay in store.

Starbucks Sustainability Actions

Save 50¢ when you bring in your own reusable mug, tumbler or cold cup - every time!

Bio-Degradable disposable plates & cutlery are now in all stores.

In line with our Company values and ongoing initiative to support our environment in a positive way, Starbucks Australia is proud to be making a change to our plastic plates and cutlery. Effective immediately we will be using BioPak’s Bagasse carbon neutral plates made from sugar cane pulp and BioCutlery made using 70% biobased content. With this one initiative alone, we will eliminate 88,704 kg of plastic.

Taking on climate change.

When research indicates that coffee-growing regions will be impacted directly by climate change, it's something we take seriously. So we're aggressively pursuing a climate change strategy, including finding ways to minimise our use of energy, water and other resources (being “green”). We're upgrading existing stores and building new stores to use 25 percent less energy. And we plan to incorporate recycled and renewable materials when it's time to remodel them. We're also more than doubling our “green” energy purchases.
