Mimco Sustainability Actions

Responsible Leather.

We encourage our partners to source leather from tanneries accredited against the Leather Working Group (LWG) standard—an environmental standard that promotes sustainable business practices within the leather industry. In addition to partnering with suppliers that have a progressive approach to chemical management and water stewardship, we are actively working with groups dedicated to addressing the complex animal welfare issues within the leather supply chain.

Recycled Fibre Lining.

Our signature MIMCO button and stripe linings are made using REPREVE® Step 1 Plastic bottles are broken down into small flakes. Step 2 Flakes are melted, spun into thread and then textiles Step 3 Our signature fabric bag lining is created. The lining of a MIMCO bag can be made with up to 4 plastic bottles: Daydream Weekender Turnlock Worker Modify Mini Tote

Vegan-Friendly Collection.

Our vegan-friendly collection is crafted from entirely non-leather components and materials including nylon, neoprene and cotton. Every MIMCO piece is designed to be loved forever. We’re continually working with partners and other leading suppliers to develop alternative vegan-friendly materials, including an exciting new material we will be releasing in 2020—watch this space.

Better Cotton Initiative.

We use cotton in a selection of our scarves, in the lining of a selection of our leather bags and in various vegan-friendly bags. We’re partnering with the Better Cotton Initiative to help transform cotton production globally. BCI supports cotton farmers with training opportunities in environmental, social and economical sustainable production practices.

Towards Deforestation Free Cellulose

We are working with environmental not-for-profit Canopy towards eliminating ancient and endangered forests from fabrics made from wood-based fibres like viscose, modal and lyocell. CanopyStyle assists us to develop sustainable purchasing policies, find innovative solutions and become champions to advance the protection of the world's threatened forests.

Up-cycled Jewellery

We have created two One of a Kind jewellery collections, crafted entirely of components and materials recycled from our archives.

Responsible Jewellery

Our largest jewellery factory has been accredited with ISO14001 certificate, an environmental standard that recognises their efforts in water and waste management.
