Using new energy sources.

We apply advanced technologies to our models and pursue the technological evolution of efficiency and performance. Through research on emission-free fuel sources and the power of lithium batteries, we've created 3 key powertrains to ensure there is an eco-friendly option to suit every lifestyle.

Electrify your drive.

Harnessing the power of a high-density, lithium-ion battery, electric vehicles offer the perfect transition to zero-emission driving. They’re whisper quiet, expel no carbon emissions, and cost much less per kilometre to run without compromising on torque or instant acceleration.

Hydrogen. The fuel of the future.

Hydrogen fuel cells produce electricity by storing hydrogen under high pressure. They take just a few minutes to fully charge, are whisper quiet, offer excellent fuel economy and emit nothing but pure water, making it by far the cleanest and most sustainable long-term fuel option around.

Solar powered plants.

Genuine sustainability isn't just about committing to change in the future, it's changing how we operate now. We've installed a large-scale solar power system over the 213,000 square-meter roof of our Asan manufacturing plant in South Korea. This has reduced our CO2 emissions by 5,600 tons a year - the equivalent of planting over a million pine trees.

95% recyclability.

We apply brave thinking to our environmental strategy, too. To reduce our impact, our goal is to be able to recycle 95% of each Hyundai car very soon. We're already recycling the metals that account for more than 70% of a vehicle's weight, engine undercovers, radiator shrouds and battery tray plastics.

2020 vision.

Hyundai plans to establish a full range of green models to suit all lifestyles, from SUVs to small vehicles, by 2020. We're committed to investing in green technology and to become a leader in this emerging market which is set to increase from 2 million vehicles in 2014 to 6.4 million by 2020.

Zero CO2 emissions

Internal combustion engine vehicles burn fossil fuel to create motion, and so emit exhaust gas components such as carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, hydrogen, sulphur oxide and hydrogen sulphide, which can be harmful to the environment. The focus of our current and next generation eco-friendly vehicles is to maximise the generation of electricity and to ultimately phase out the necessity of fossil fuels. Because a cleaner, more sustainable tomorrow means the journey to zero emissions starts today.
